Watch special episodes of Local, USA on WORLD in partnership with Maryland Public Television.
In September, it’s all eyes on HBCUs. Throughout the month, institutions and organizations across the country recognize the historical and cultural significance of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), their students, educators and traditions during nationally-recognized HBCU Week programs.
Maryland Public Television (MPT) takes it one step further with a full week dedicated to stories from HBCUs. During this programming initiative, watch under-told stories of the sacrifice, courage, innovation and hope found in the archives of these important American institutions, including two episodes of Local, USA – HBCU Week: Beyond the Field and HBCU Week: Tradition and Competition – and digital extras on YouTube.
Watch films following the athletics, music and legacies of HBCUs – including Howard University and North Carolina A&T – and celebrating the opportunities and accomplishments of their communities.
