A production of the Association of Independents in Radio

These are the stories of five men and women who first discovered who they were and then found their passion, their America. Courtney calls herself an “accidental baker.” Jesus began cooking the most beautiful hot dogs. Anthony made a difficult journey that brought him back full circle, back to the safe haven of the Shake & Bake. By giving back to their respective communities, Cordelia and Tonia discovered that serving their communities became the purpose of their lives – saving a Native language through the next generation, providing veterans with much needed resources. Their inspirations are personal, their impact profound. 

FINDING AMERICA is an independent public media production comprised of 15 teams embedded for nine months at forward-moving public radio and television stations across the U.S. The series moves into communities large and small to invent new storytelling models with citizens who help us tell a new story of the rich diversity of America today.
