Exclusive Stanley Nelson film launches revamped WORLD Channel presence on YouTube
WORLD Channel is boosting its presence on YouTube and aiming to reach wider audiences by adding more exclusive and original content to its online offerings. The broadcast channel and multimedia content producer, which is operated by WGBH in Boston and distributed by American Public Television, launched the initiative March 31 with the release of TWO DOLLARS AND A DREAM, the debut film of director Stanley Nelson. The rough goal is to release one feature a month, shorts from documentary series every four months and short films as they become available, said WORLD Channel EP Chris Hastings.

America ReFramed Returns to WORLD Channel This May
America ReFramed, the award-winning documentary series dedicated to showcasing independent documentary films highlighting the mosaic of life and cultures in contemporary America, returns for its eighth season at 8 p.m. EST on Tuesday, May 5, on WORLD Channel. The new season premieres with WHERE THE PAVEMENT ENDS from filmmaker Jane Gillooly, a powerful and intimate examination of segregation and racial injustice in the neighboring towns of Kinloch and Ferguson, Missouri. New and encore episodes of America ReFramed will air on Tuesdays throughout 2020.

News & Documentary Emmys: 2019 Winners
The winners of the 2019 News & Documentary Emmys have been announced. The 40th edition of the awards were presented Tuesday night at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York. Emmys were presented in 49 categories. The evening's biggest winner was HBO with 10 awards. PBS grabbed nine honors during the ceremony, and CBS came in third place with six wins.

This summer, television audiences can listen in on amazing real life stories told by everyday people as WORLD Channel presents a 24-hour binge-a-thon of the television series Stories from the Stage beginning on Saturday, June 22, at 7 p.m. The series is hosted by humorists and storytellers Theresa Okokon and Wes Hazard (some eagle-eyed viewers may recognize the latter from his stint on Jeopardy! where he was a three-time champion in 2018).

'Stories From The Stage' illustrates the power of real stories told by masterful storytellers. Each episode presents original stories told live, explores the art of storytelling, with a host who interviews each teller talking about their craft. This episode’s theme was "For The Win."
