Among the Believers
By Hemal Trivedi and Mohammed Naqvi
Set during the bloodiest period in Pakistan’s modern history, AMONG THE BELIEVERS is a dramatic and chilling examination of the ideological battles shaping Pakistan, the education of its children, and the Muslim world.
While teachers and a growing activist movement work valiantly against the Taliban regime, a fanatical but charismatic cleric named Abdul Aziz Ghazi is creating his own version of a strict Islamic utopia. Talha and Zarina, teenage students who have attended madrassahs (Islamic seminaries) run by Aziz's Red Mosque network, are caught on opposite sides of the holy war, their fates hanging in the balance.
