Colorado Experience: Suffrage

On November 7, 1893, Colorado became the first state in the nation to grant women’s suffrage by popular vote, a result of nearly 15 years of struggle and dedication. Tenacious Coloradans across the state shouted “Let the women vote! They can’t do any worse than the men!” as they marched door-to-door in churches, mining towns and farming communities.

Colorado Experience is is a television series produced by Rocky Mountain PBS and History Colorado. It is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the people, events and places that have shaped Colorado.
